Y'know, much as RP on the High Seas is just a funny, silly thing, with goofy interpretations of characters doing things you can't take seriously, and really just to mess around and stuff ( Read more... )

i know real people chage their journal titles all the time, but when these change its for character devlopment. at what point in the game does this story start? maybe I'm not there yet. but yes, I had little clue was was going on, i don't take it as a spoiler too much. Its intersting to see those involed. anway I hope to see more things. I was thiking of it for my own guys, but that would be horrible and people would think my characters are somthing diffeent.
thats what "nyathea' is for...so far
are you going to have this in Appresio...under the fandom part?

speeking of characters.....uh "I" should't be here
feel free to ad me, and spin that wheel of pain

No. Apparso is about Genso Suikoden. RP on the High Seas is not really Suikoden (except where it's not specifically being itself. If that makes sense.) It's not the sort of thing I could actually analyze, even if I wanted to... it isn't the sort of thing that lends itself to it much, again, except where it isn't being itself, but is just being Suikoden-in-general. The whole point of it is just "it is teh funnay, and I feel affectionate towards the characters."

There's a link to all the back entries, in order, here, so you can read them in order if you like:

It's odd that a reverse in tone often produces the biggest effect -- when a kind of goofy thing becomes serious, it can be affecting. And when serious things do comedy it's often very funny. (Some of The X-Files episodes are absolutely hilarious.)

Hmm... yes. I wonder if it's because you don't feel like the thing is trying so hard; you feel more like the effect is unintentional. And therefore more like it's spontaneous, genuine, real... and less like the author planned it as a form of manipulation.

Also, I know I tend to be amused by morbid jokes pertaining to things I take seriously, which I think is because the jokes are relief. Not the kind of comic relief that distracts, but the kind that shows that we have to have perspective about everything, I guess.

I'm sadder, too-- although I did have a whole lot of personal affection for the game as well, and I think mainly I'm sadder about the RP because I fear it's going to be really OVER when it's over, whereas GS4 will always be around to replay and watch again. I can re-read the journals, yeah, but it's somehow not the same thing as watching it in realtime.

...I keep saying to the characters, "Will, I'm so sorry. Troy, I'm so sorry." It's like I... I don't even know how to express to the characters all the sympathy that is in my heart for what they are going through, and yet I feel like I SHOULD be able to express it to them, because unlike with the game, I can actually interact with the RP characters, and know that they will hear me. I should be able to express it-- and yet, it's not a thing that can be spoken, only felt.

It's like a series finale or something like that. Though it would be interesting if an epilogue is added since it would be interesting what happened to everyone afterwards.
