Dear pharmaceutical industry: I love you. I love you so very, very much. You are my new friend.

I am not the stoic type. I realized that fully today, when I whimpered my way through a wisdom tooth extraction. Seriously, I sounded like a kicked puppy.

Oof, my mouth hurts just remembering my wisdom teeth extractions. You have my complete sympathy. I hope you feel better soon! And I don't think you lose stoic credentials for whimpering during a wisdom tooth extraction, 'cause that is a special kind of hurt. By the way, out of curiosity, what kind of pain meds did they give you? I had Percocet after mine, which was just fantastic, and strong enough to leave me in a perpetual, happy fog, only dimly aware of slight discomfort in my gums. Simply marvelous.

The only sound more horrifying than that of teeth being cracked out of your skull is that of a dentist's drill.

They gave me Vicodin, which I only really need when trying to sleep--prescription strength ibuprofen is enough to get me through the day. Which is good, because I can't afford to take work off because I'm loopy. (I turn into Jayne Cobb when on Vicodin--I go crazy, then fall asleep.)

No argument here! Brr.

Opiate-based pain meds used to just put me to sleep as well, but it was Ambien that made me into Jayne. Now I'm used to both Lortab and Ambien, so I don't go crazy or fall asleep anymore (unfortunately, in the latter's case...) when I take them.
