Students are actually usually pretty good. I must admit I've never had a student cut my hair, because only one person has ever been able to tame my insanely thick and curly hair, but I think your hair is pretty normal and easy to cut. At least, I would think?
I wouldn't be too worried. It's cheap and hair does grow, if all else fails.
