My parents got the car back!  The transmission wasn't damaged!  It was just the rear axle, so it was only a $400 bill instead of a $1500 one!

*summons her inner Kemit the Frog*  YAAAAAAAAAY!!

So far, nothing else seems to be wrong with the car *knocks on wood*, though our mechanic said things might turn up here and there down the road.
