close call for steph this morning

I just got a call from Steph from work. As she was driving down Collier from Northside on her way to Piedmont hospital, a tree fell over onto the road in front of her. There were two cars ahead of her, and they both stopped and avoided the tree as well. Apparently all the recent rain had loosend the soil enough for the roots to pull up through ( Read more... )

Thanks. Yeah, it is pretty crazy. But with all the rain, it's really quite common in this city for trees to tumble.

I was daydreaming as usual and did not see that a giant tree was falling in front of me. Lucky for me the guy driving the white pickup truck in front of me was paying attention. At first I thought, "Why are you stopping!!!" Then I saw the tree fall into the lane beside us. I am not sure if he had any damage to his truck, but he pulled over into the parking area near the park off of Collier. I am sure he at least needed to collect his thoughts before proceeding. If the tree was 4 feet taller then things would have been a bit different.
