Oh, jesus christ the entries this year are good. So very, very, good. I've read all of them - and to the person who wrote me Fringe/Firestarter - I'm currently worshipping at your feet. The stories are so good, in fact, that feedback is starting to become a repetitive problem, there's only so much "I love this!" and general flailing I can do. Will try and space it out over the next few days - also, note to self - don't leave things til the last minute next year. Because there is going to be a next year.
In unrelated news I was given goldfish. Two of them. I also have a pond which (unlike the goldfish) isn't new at all. I also have a collection of magpies who have taken a sudden interest in the proceedings and are sitting on the back fence, and a golden retriever who's going nuts barking at them (he hates birds…he got dive-bombed repeatedly when he was a pup. My dog grew up with a complex). Making underwater bridges, stocking up on water-plants, and trying to provide plenty of cover for them - here's hoping they survive the day - or, you know, the dog inadvertently protects them.
I have a sneaking suspicion i had goldfish when I was three or four - there was a solemn burial proceeding involving the toilet - here's hoping I have better luck as an adult.
