Well...If Peter were growing up in the RedVerse, he'd be the son of the founder of Bishop Dynamic or the Secretary of Defense. I don't really buy a conman (at least as how the term is usually defined) with that sort of background. I could buy him being a bit spoiled, but with the smarts and education to back his arrogance...and I could buy him joining Fringe division to make his own way, or just to piss his Dad off.
Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of the last two, making his own way and annoying his dad. Technically, he's helping the community, so bonus points because he knows Elizabeth will support him ;)
All jokes aside that actually is a genuine concern - I figure the moment I get bored writing it, then whoever's potentially reading it will be in a literal coma - so thank you
My inclination is that he's neither, or actually, maybe something in between, something a lot like early season one's Nina. Not quite the con, but not quite the law either. I'm imagining him still chafing under Walter's expectations but tempered by Elizabeth's influence.
Trade you one - what kind of gun would Olivia be carrying around the end of season four? (All guesses welcome)
I'd agree, you could probably stretch it out to M9 Beretta if you wanted - both are acceptable and the FBI are allowed to carry personal weapons - depends on whether or not she prefers the heavier feel of a beretta. MP5's for tactical - although they used the Jian-She Type O5 in the mid-season four two-parter, the gun battle in the quarry, which surprised me
Yeah, I'm trying to pass him off as an undercover cop at the moment - which keeps him on the right side of the law and relevant to the case - but with a history of fooling people
I *do* love the idea of him being a civil engineer, or getting his hands dirty and working the projects - and your right - because it feels very 'pat' to make him either a fringe agent or a 'player'.
I'm just trying to figure out how to make the storyline work if he's a civillian - and the only thing I'm coming up with is 'difficult'.

Technically, undercover still makes him a 'con-man' - in a sense - but working on the right side of the law, and it's not an easy way to live
