Last night we lost Goliath, who left us at the ripe old age of 21.

I'm so sorry for your loss :( We had a kitty named Sheila who lived to be 20 (1977-1997) and who had health problems the last 11 of those years. (I say it was like she got cirrhosis of the liver when she was 45 and lived to be 100.) So was Goliath particularly large? or was that name ironic?

Very ironic--she was a tiny little thing.

Very small, very frail, long silky fur, and as affectionate as you could ever expect. I'm not sure what her owner was going for with that name, but we never saw the need to change it.

My first thought upon reading this was, "Goliath was still alive????" It is a testament to how good a cat she was and what a good cat daddy you are that she made it this far.

*hugs* and sympathies, man. It's always rough.

Yep, she hung in there. Considering the speed at which she went, it felt like "Okay, done now."

'Tis indeed, and thanks.

Sorry to hear about your loss. She sounds like she was an awesome cat and she had a great run indeed, especially after she suckered you guys into taking her in. :)

It was less a matter of taking her in than it was finally noticing that she was around all the time. It's not the first time I've wound up with a cat in that manner.

She was indeed pretty awesome.
