Food-taking it to a whole new level

I have a history with food..unfortunately all bad. I grew up with parents who thought eating was an art form, where there were Daddy plates and Mommy plates...where you would (unintentionally it turns out) strive to be more like my dad who would finish everything on his plate. My mom is also the biggest chocolate lover and sweet tooth I know. I ( Read more... )

Hey, I'm glad you've made this decision - I made a similar decision years ago, and while I'm not perfect, I do have a lot of fun. I've stopped craving all that junk food and stuff...

BTW, in terms of water - I -hated- drinking water growing up, and then I went to Cal, which is right out of the Hetch Hetchy... now I LOVE drinking water, but only if it's in certain water districts. I hate the water at my parents' house - it's disgusting.

So if you're into drinking more water, make sure you filter it first (I like Brita), stick it in the fridge, and if it still tastes funky, slip a slice of lemon in your water bottle. :)

For what it's worth, you have never struck me as a person who had all the trouble with weight that you've described here. *hugs* Then again, I didn't know you in junior high school. At any rate, I've always thought you looked good for your height :) But, I know everyone is their own worst critic. For example, when I look at my hair, it feels like my entire head is turning gray and just seems to be screaming! And when I look at my face, the dark circles under my eyes look like ugly black shiners. %-( Fortunately no one else sees things as badly as I do.

BTW, I'm always amazed when I hear folks comment (like you did) that when they get upset/stressed/depressed, it makes them eat more. I am the total opposite. When I'm upset, I cannot eat! :( And if I try, I usually end up with heartburn, nausea, or... uh... making "runs" for the restroom! (*blush* T.M.I.)

Anyhoo, good luck with the healthy changes you're making in your life. I'm sure you'll do just fine! :)
