It's Catch by the way...darklingbirdDecember 5 2005, 23:46:05 UTC
I really like the way you use color in that. I tried to write a story about synaethesia once, but there's something fundamentally wrong with it that I can't figure out. Yours works much better. :) --Catch, who has started Using The Internet again after a semester's break.
It.. touched very much. There's not much stuff in the whole Web that puts me in a contemplative mood. Made me think about colours and what mine could be. Pity I don't know any of the songs mentioned. Did you know that a Russian composer tried to combine music with colour and insisted that he saw colours in music? I think I've just found a new fondness for the name "Ira". Know a couple of girls with this name, actually. I've always thought that blue was my favourite colour, especially the richer and darker hues, must be a coincidence. Last year I decided that all colours have beautiful and ugly shades - there's two sides to everything, isn't there? But I'm still very fascinated with blue. Thank you for making me see that the world is a very bright place, if you only learn to /see/. You have my heart.
I so rarely check back through these things. And here you are =)
Maybe the composer could see music in colours - I'm not sure how you spell it but there's a condition called synasthesia - is that right? Something like that. I almost think it'd be fun to have just to see music like that. So cool ^^
I chose the name 'Ira' because it links to the name 'Iris' - which I've used elsewhere - and *that* links to the colour theme. The pathways of my mind are windy-wending-weird sometimes, I'll admit. It is quite a pretty name. Um ^^;
All colours can be beautiful or ugly - it's all context, you're right. I loved blue for years until I fell head over heels for purple, and recently I just love colour, any colour, all colour. And thanks for reading =) Sorry it involves less boysex than the usual stuff ;)
(and you *must* start listening to Joni Mitchell, 'A Case of You' will break your brain. The entire album - which this piece is named after - is so perfect it leaves me speechless every time. The entire world must listen to Blue! Yes! Ahem . .
Jeez. This is . . . not good. I'm emailing Heidi. If she just wants to quit university that's fine, but if things are just a mess . . . okay, I'm emailing Heidi ^^;
(and your English is pretty frighteningly good, considering what passes for English amongst some native speakers ;)
