Something I've been thinking because I'm currently rereading The Lost Hero.
You know, something has been bothering me. Piper tries not to tell others her dad is Tristan McLean because she hates to play the famous dad card. It goes to the point that her classmates don't know about it -just that her dad is Native American, probably because she went with the "Cherokee artist" simplification. Another thing is that besides Leo and Jason (and Dylan but he's a monster harassing her), she doesn't seem to speak with her other classmates much. She's quite private with her stuff and everyone is an asshole anyway.
Then... how come Leo knows about her dad? More than that, he remembers she's a vegetarian, and that she "stole" the BMW but says the guy gave it to her.
Because well, the book tries to give the feeling that they were just friends by proxy and they're both more hanged on the idea of Jason's Mist, like she's his BFF's GF and he's her BF's BFF. But in reality, I do suspect that they were the ones who were best friends (or at least the only friend each had in that school) but Jason's Mist doesn't let them remember that. It would've been an odd friendship, but after all they were forced into the school at the same time, and as loners they probably sticked together as the two new kids.
Of course, Leo still wouldn't tell her about HIS things because she would take him for a lunatic anyway. Can you blame him, with that childhood of doom? And he was a very reserved guy ready to escape in any case.
This makes me a little depressed, because then it would mean that at least on Piper's side they had a decent bond, much stronger than the one they have with Jason. But now they don't know about it because this amnesiac stranger accidentally gave himself a larger role, and even if Piper and Leo are better friends now they'll still want to be more friends (and more, in her case) with Jason.
Sob, why. I'd rather have lots of nakama than the girl pining over this hot guy she met four days ago.
