Yeah, so I still haven't a clue of what shows I'll even try this season except for a couple that are a MUST. Which ones? You'll see below, although this is mostly a GIF review of things from last season (or a previous season, period ( Read more... )

For some reason I am surprised you like Fate Zero. I didn't think you liked dark dramatic stuff like that (but it was wrong for me to assume)

I enjoy it too but my favorites are definitely Rider & Waver ♥

Nah, your assuption isn't entirely wrong. I'm not really sure how to explain this, but I'll try to make sense of it. I think angst and tragedy and dark aren't bad per se; it's just when they are so thick they don't leave a lot of room for the less gloomy feelings that they turn me off. Even if there's a lot of bad backstories and fresh traumas and horrible human beings in this cast, I've yet to feel an atmosphere of hopelessness in Fate/Zero. Now that we mention Rider, his over-the-top attitude and his honesty give a nice break from all the shit going down, and maybe if it wasn't for him I'd have a harder time to adjust to the series ( ... )

I understand what you are saying. As for myself I don't really mind dark series (and some I ever really enjoy) but I just hate the notion that something is deeper and more complex because it is dark which is so common in fandom. So hence even though I like some angsty drama at times, the fandom attitude and dismissive towards stuff that isn't all dark & angsty sometimes turns me away.

But as for Fate Zero I do expect the 2nd half to be even darker. so be prepared for that.

Ugh, I hate the "~dark~ and ~edgy~ is mature" mindset and it's everywhere.

Oh, I'm all ready for it! It is a fight to the death after all, so I know I'll have a lot of feels (hell, I'm even surprised more people haven't died yet...) I can easily watch something dark and be ready for suffering, but not feeling attachment if the characters and/or plot don't get to me (lately, most trendy drama anime leave me meh.) In this one I dig the characters, so I can stand the dark and tragic to come in order to know their full story.

I'm really confusing, I dunno.

Teddie♥
I don't remember Yu's homophobia, though... Maybe because I watched without subtitles and didn't catch everything? What did he do/say?

lol, Thermae Romae... The manga's just got licensed over here and they're advertising it a lot, which kinda makes me want to try it out... Sounds pretty weird though XD

And congratulations, you've just made me want to try out Fate/Zero XD was looking for new series to watch once school starts again

Well, it's in the episode where they are camping. He (with Yosuke too) was really concerned about Kanji sleeping in the same tent, because what if he did something to them -which in the game was only said by Yosuke and MC didn't give a fuck. When Kanji had a panic attack because of his complex, and said he was going to the girls' tent to prove he was straight or something, Yu said something similar to "good, just go!" in a deadpan way. It made him sound like he was really grossed out/scared to sleep with someone who might be gay. A lot of people I know actually ragequit the anime because of it ( ... )

Ah, I see. I didn't put much thought into it, because it was played for comedy (and it's kinda a running joke in my dorms, so I'm used to it not meant to be taken seriously), and, well, Yu's deadpan replies are usually the most silly ones, so I don't think he was being serious. The dungeon part was uncomfortable, though, from what I remember. I'm also sad Naoto turned out to be a girl, because I thought it was interesting to have a potential gay couple among the main characters. Though she's awesome as a girl in her own right, but then Kanji's whole internal struggle was rendered a bit, idk, meaningless, imo.

Cultural clash time travel is always fun XD
