100 things mythology [003/100]

Nope, I haven't forgotten! I've just been sick lately and I wasn't feeling geeky enough to do it. I was going to make more graphics too, but in the end I thought it was too bleagh of an idea. So anyway, here's the disgusting conclusion to the Norse creation myth.

Warnings: bit of gore again, dwarf bashing, lack of cheerful LEGO

... seriously one squick chapter that at least makes sense. Thank you for sharing this though. I have always wondered about those worlds after watching the anime "MaTantei Loki".

S-sorry about that squick.

Heh, Matantei Loki XD It's one of the cutest misadaptations ever, so if it's your intro to Norse you're in for a few surprises and weird mental images.

Don't worry about it. I'm still fascinated in the way you explained Norse Mythology.

XDD I'd noticed the misadaptations. Went to look for information on Matantei Loki's alter egos and I just couldn't understand how their relationships were based on. Like you said, weird mental images and lots of surprises.

There are some (more like most) relations that were made up for the series. Freya never had a crush on Loki, and I have no idea how/if Freyr and Heimdall would get along. But the rivalries did have a basis on the Ragnarok myth, and Loki's three children are legit (yeah... giant snake, giant wolf, half-corpse queen of underworld).

Dang. I certainly won't be looking at rocks and clouds the same way again.

Those posts are really educational! I feel bad for the dwarves though. :(

AWESOME!

Nunca he oído esa versión.

Saludos!!! ^^

Between this post and the last one, I'm seriously wondering what the Norse myth-creators were drinking when they came up with all this. It's like ... totally wacky and just how do they dream it all up?

I don't even know what was up with that, but the Vikings' alcohol and/or drugs seem to be really good stuff if it's an indicative of that.
