I haven't read anything by her yet because I don't really tread much through Marvel and specially X-men stuff. But man, now I'm wary because I didn't like Kaori stuff much.
It totally is CLAMPfest. But it's also long and with one million subseries, and I think I'd go crazy. I can't even get into Batman's length, imagine this!
I think I dig the Thor part of Marvel because it feels more standard fantasy-ish than supehero-ish. I can deal with epic drama in fantasy, but not mainstream comics. When I do read superhero per se, they tend to be pseudo-obscure heroes with comedy and some hope in it (like old!DC's Blue Beetle or Booster Gold or Power Girl), which is something quite un-X-men-ish and not that common on Marvel.
No, it means I just saw similar tropes sometimes in the plot, and this arc was APOCALYPTIC DOOM - LET'S FUCK FATE - HERE, HAVE SOME EYEBALLS. Comics aren't always drawn by the same people, so one issue can be excellent and the other awful. That arc was okay in art, but good superhero art is really different to good shoujo art. And modern Thor is extremely muscular in design, quite different to broad-backed noodles.
I actually dunno if you'd like it that much. Females can be written awful sometimes depending of the writer, and there aren't too many important ones (Sif, the one recurrent female warrior, hasn't done anything cooler than love interest stuff in this revival). Well... since last year we have the All-Mother who are three awesome queen goddesses and they're flawless, but they're kinda minor characters and who knows how long they'll last in power.
Ah, sorry, I worded it wrong. It was written by a Western dude and I was making a joke. But yes! It does feel like RG Veda with later Tsubasa and some X in it.
Hmm. Been considering trying to get into Marvel comics themselves based on liking the movies, and this is making me particularly interested in Thor. Emotional roller coasters are always fun. ^^;
I have no idea if/what/since when to rec because it's so massive and with different degrees of quality. It doesn't always tend to be this tragic (really specific depressing arc, being an end of the world and all), although it does have its hard moments once in a while.

I've no idea whether you'd like Liu writing tbh.
