Chapter 04

Jaejoong’s smirk grew wider upon hearing Yeonhee’s remark.

Yeonhee rolled her eyes and stood up.

Mrs. Lee was only relieved Yeonhee didn’t make a mess out of herself.

And Mrs. Kim’s fantasies of a peaceful retirement suddenly shattered into pieces.

‘She doesn’t like him?!?!?!??!’ she thought. ‘I’m doomed!’ she mentally slapped herself in frustration. ‘Why did I have a son like him?! Why can’t I have a normal son who would NORMALLY obey his parents? What did I do to deserve this kind of punish-‘

“I like her, mother.” Jaejoong’s voice broke through her thoughts of complaints about him.

“P-p-pardon? I think I didn’t hear that quite right my son.” She chuckled nervously.

Jaejoong shot his million dollar smile at Yeonhee and kissed her hand. Mrs. Kim sighed of relief and smiled at Jaejoong, something she hasn’t done for a while because of all the frustration he has been giving her. Yeonhee simply rolled her eyes at the gentlemanly gesture. “Show off.” She muttered under her breath, almost inaudible to a normal human being. Of course, Kim Jaejoong is nowhere near near normal meaning he heard another of Yeonhee’s stingy remarks and simply dismissed it.

“Well…” Jaejoong threw his right arm around Yeonhee’s waist and glanced at her. She really didn’t seem to care at his action and it brought a small smile upon his angelic face. “We shall be departing, mother” he gave her a small nod and turned to Mrs. Lee, “Mother-in-law” he respectfully nodded. Yeonhee did the same before they left.

Mrs. Kim, again, had her whole face painted with worry as soon as Jaejoong and Yeonhee got out of the Lee Residence. Her peaceful senior citizenship fantasies will have to wait for a while after Jaejoong gets wed.

“Don`t worry.” Mrs. Lee patted her back. “I’m sure this is the last time you’ll have to think of your son’s wedding.”

“How are you so sure about that?” she spat at her.

“Didn’t you hear your son just now?” she turned to Mrs. Kim. She shook her head in reply. “He just called me mother-in-law.”

“Yeonhee sshi.” Jaejoong called to the maiden staring out at the beautiful night sky of Seoul.

“What?” she turned to him with a blank expression on her face. She did’nt looked like she was pissed or something close to the meaning of that word, but she wasn’t looking happy either. Still, Jaejoong found her alluring, even in the dark.

“Why do you hate Calvin Klein? You even memorize the mixture of my perfume and you hate it? I’m really really really really really curious, mademoiselle.”

“The world wouldn’t change one bit even if I told you.” She replied as she turned her head to face the cold window.

“Please?”

Yeonhee ignored him.

He started tugging her arm.

She, again, ignored him.

“Yeonhee~”

She still ignored him.

“Yeonhee~” he tugged her arm again.

“Will you stop addressing me familiarly?” she turned to the annoying person who was sitting next to her.

“Please~?” he pouted. It’s the infamous Kim Jaejoong pout. The pout that could send any girl’s heart fluttering in either Lalala~love Wonderland or Joongie Paradise.

The pout that could hypnotize any girl into his every command.

The pout....

…that Yeonhee found….

“Stop pouting. Makes you look pathetic.”

“Please?...Yeonhee sshi?” He asked in his baby voice, still pouting.

“Just drive, will you?” she sighed as she crossed her arms. “If I tell you, will you stop bugging me?” Jaejoong nodded excitedly. “The reason why I hate Calvin Klein is…”

“Is?”

“Because you wear it.”

Jaejoong snickered. ‘Lee Yeonhee…’

‘You're one interesting woman.’

“Anneyeong hasaeyo.” The young woman bowed politely. “My name is Lee Hyori.” She beamed at him.

“Anneyeong. I’m Kim Jaejoong.” Jaejoong replied. He was too busy studying her from head to toe. And he came to one conclusion. LEE HYORI IS HOT! Although he wasn’t quite excited about the engagement when his mother first told him about it, it was clear that both parties seemed to be interested with each other. Hyori can’t seem to stop gaping at Jaejoong’s flawless features every time they’re out on a date. Likewise, Jaejoong kept admiring her great figure.

But, admiration on looks alone wasn’t enough for him, that’s why he met his second bride, Kim Taehee.

“Please?” Jaejoong once again, used his infamous pout on her.

First, she blushed.

Second, she squealed.

And then she said “Okay!” and had him in a tight bear hug. So tight, Jaejoong’s face even started to turn red due to lack of oxygen.

Every date seemed like a day out with an obsessed fan girl who cannot spend one day without squealing over Jaejoong’s cuteness.

Those memories brought a soft smile on Jaejoong’s face. ‘ahh….those were such fun days.’ He snickered and it made Yeonhee look at him suspiciously. She was giving him the are-you-a-runaway-mental-hospital-patient look. In short, she was giving him the are-you-crazy look. He ignored it and told her, “We’re here.”

Yeonhee looked at the name of the restaurant. It read “Tony Romas’ blah bah blah STEAKHOUSE” She twitched upon reading the STEAKHOUSE word. Jaejoong saw her and smirked before opening the door for her. She hesitantly got in of the vehicle and read the name of the restaurant again, thinking that she might’ve misread it. But to her dismay, it really said STEAKHOUSE. ‘I, Lee Yeonhee, am officially doomed.’ She thought as Jaejoong placed his hand at her waist and lead her in.

“May I take your order?” the waiter inquired.

Yeonhee was looking intensely at the menu for the last five minutes, and she hasn’t even blinked yet. “I’ll be getting a vegetable salad.” She smiled as she put the menu down.

“Are you serious?!”

Yeonhee blinked. And it was because of Jaejoong’s sudden outburst. “What?” she asked innocently. ‘Did I step on a landmine or something?’ she thought.

“Are you serious that you’re ordering ONLY a salad?!”

“Uh…yeah. I’m positive about that. Is there any problem with that?”

“Do I have any problems with it? Of course I do!”

‘Why am I stuck in this situation?’ Yeonhee thought. She too a quick peek at their background and yes, people were staring at them. All she wanted to do was to magically disappear from the scene and banish the human being responsible for this to a deserted island in the Pacific. But no, she doesn’t have the capability, money, or the magic to do that. So she just listened to the blabbing earthling in front of her who was named Kim Jaejoong. “What is your problem with me ordering a vegetable salad?”

"Uhm should I just come back later when you've made your minds up?" the already feeling awkward waiter butt in. Unfortunately, the lovely couple ignored him.

“That is the problem, my dearest Yeonhee. You’re going to eat vegetables only for dinner!”

“So?” she raised her eyebrows at him

“That’s the reason you’re so slim!”

“Thank you for that wonderful compliment Jaejoong sshi, but I cannot see why I’m not allowed to eat what I want. And I‘m quite sure that there isn’t a single law in the Constitution that forbids me or any Korean citizen from eating what they want.”

“I meant thin! Anyways you need protein in your body! Look at you! You’re as thin as a beautiful butterfly that could be easily blown away by the strong wind…” He sighed. ‘She’s so much…like my ideal girl…’ He sighed again and zoomed to Yeonhee wonderland, the place where all Jaejoong’s Yeonhee fantasies come to life! He mentally slapped himself and rocketed back to the place called reality where all of Jaejoong’s Yeonhee fantasies hasn’t, does not, and most definitely will NOT, anytime soon, come to life. Yeonhee was staring at him like he was an idiot. Although he wants to get Yeonhee stare at him, all of her attention just on him, this wasn’t the kind of attention he wanted from her. He cleared his throat and told her, “You are going to eat properly. And that means a meal that consists of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals.”

“But I don’t eat steak!” Yeonhee whined.

“No buts!”

“Jaejoong sshi please be considerate of me.”

“We are having steak and that’s final.”

“KIM JAEJOONG YOU FREAKIN’ CARNIVORE!” she slammed her hands against the table and stood up. “WHY CAN’T YOUR CARNIVORIC BRAIN PROCESS THE FACT THAT I DON’T EAT MEAT AND WILL NEVER EAT MEAT IS BEAUSE I’M A FREAKIN’ VEGETARIAN!” she panted. It has been a long time since she shouted like that at a person and she really didn’t like that feeling.

Jaejoong just sat there in front of her, wide eyed. It seems like he was greatly shocked because of her sudden outburst just because of steak. “I understand Yeonhee sshi,” he said in a solemn voice.

‘Finally!’ Yeonhee thought and she started doing her little victory dance in her head. And all of the mini Yeonhee’s started shouting banzai.

“Waiter, I’ll order two steaks. I want it rare. That’s all.” He turned to Yeonhee and grinned.

‘Is his skull THAT thick?!?!?!?!?’ Yeonhee thought as her jaw seems to have dropped down to the floor. Oh wait, it’s still dropping and it has now reached the mantle.

“I don’t want my Yeonhee to look like a walking stick.”

After a while, Yeonhee started to pray as she saw the waiter coming out of the kitchen with their steak.

‘Lord please forgive me for eating this innocent animal.
Lord, please forgive me for the sin I am about to commit.
And most importantly, Lord, please forgive the person who has slain this poor animal, the person who has cooked this animal and the person who ordered this animal to be served in this table. Amen’

When Yeonhee finished her prayer, a huge slab of steak was placed in front of her. She gulped at the sight of this. ‘Lord….

Help me!’
