Title: As The Sky Rains Down

Warning[s]: Warnings for implied sex and death. Spoiler warnings for the end of Pokémon Emerald and the end of the Ruby/Sapphire arc of the PokéSpecial manga. None of them are in any particular order, nor do they really follow on.
ᕗ1 Motion- Steven stops to watch as Wallace moves- his every motion is effortlessly graceful and he always looks as if he is moving to a rhythm no one else can hear.
ᕗ2 Cool- To everyone else, Steven is cool and somewhat stern in demeanor but to Wallace alone, he is open and warm and tender.
ᕗ3 Young- "I'm far too young to die yet," Steven had said, as Wallace listened intently, "but if I have to give my life for Hoenn, then I will."
ᕗ4 Last- Neither of them thought this would last particularly long- Wallace is always busy with the Gym or his Contests and Steven is often away travelling, when not at the office or Ever Grande- yet Wallace is the one Steven always finds himself coming back to.
ᕗ5 Wrong- As Wallace picked up Steven's lifeless body, he hoped desperately that he was mistaken in assuming him dead.
ᕗ6 Gentle- Steven remembers clearly the delicate rain that fell when he first told Wallace he loved him and he wonders if it became some kind of omen for them.
ᕗ7 One- They sit together on the sand and the tide approaches but they only have eyes for each other, as if they're the last people on earth.
ᕗ8 Thousand- Steven listens as Wallace worries- "the Orbs have been at Mt. Pyre for thousands of years, why take them now?"
ᕗ9 King- Steven may be the one with a wealthy family, but he always considers Wallace to be more regal than he is.
ᕗ10 Learn- Wallace knows little of geology and Steven only understands the basics of Pokémon Contests, but for the other, they are willing to learn.
ᕗ11 Blur- They could do nothing but watch as Rayquaza came down to stop the warring and even then, it happened so fast, it is like it never even happened in the first place.
ᕗ12 Wait- Wallace is endlessly patient and Steven is grateful for it- no matter how long he is away for on his travels, Wallace is always there waiting for him when he gets back.
ᕗ13 Change- He waits whilst Wallace gets ready and Steven can't help but admire the crisp white suit the other man is wearing now.
ᕗ14 Command- Wallace watched as Steven battled the challenger expertly- he knew he was the better fighter of the two, but Steven's tactics and timing still made him a dangerous foe to face.
ᕗ15 Hold- Steven grasps Wallace's hand tightly- they're both frightened and convinced they will meet their end today, so they'll relish their last moments together.
ᕗ16 Need- Steven is willing to cater to Wallace's every whim, but Wallace is just happy with the knowledge that Steven loves him.
ᕗ17 Vision- Wallace held his head and fought back tears as he awoke from a dream that seemed eerily prophetic; seeing himself knelt over an injured and dying Steven was not a thought he wanted to dwell on.
ᕗ18 Attention- Steven is not always there, but when he is, nothing can distract him from Wallace.
ᕗ19 Soul- Wallace smiles knowingly- he'd always had a feeling Steven was his soulmate, but now he's almost sure.
ᕗ20 Picture- The photo in the newspaper showed Steven and Wallace smiling, crowned as heroes and saviors of Hoenn, but only they knew what the price of such a thing had come at.
ᕗ21 Fool- He feels foolish for admitting it after so long of trying to pretend otherwise and getting his feelings in order, but Steven can't deny how strongly he feels for Wallace any longer.
ᕗ22 Mad- His touch is gentle, like a spring rain- pale, soft hands on Steven's tanned rough skin- and it's enough to convince him that Wallace is intentionally trying to drive him crazy.
ᕗ23 Child- After everything is over, Steven remembers the children who awakened Rayquaza and he can't help but feel indebted to them.
ᕗ24 Now- Wallace unbuttons Steven's soaking shirt, hands clumsy in the cold rain and their kisses giving off unbearable heat against the chill; the weather really isn't forgiving to this sort of thing, but neither of them care.
ᕗ25 Shadow- The shadows dance oddly and flicker as Wallace lights candles and Steven lays his head on his lap, watching the flames and looking at peace.
ᕗ26 Goodbye- Wallace looks over Steven's lifeless body and all he can think of is his regret at not being able to let him die in his arms.
ᕗ27 Hide- Under the cover of darkness, they slip into the Cave of Origin because no one will think to look for them there.
ᕗ28 Fortune- "You didn't have to spend so much on me!" Wallace protests, but Steven insists and gets him the present anyway.
ᕗ29 Safe- Leaning against Steven, Wallace smiles and feels safest of all with him by his side.
ᕗ30 Ghost- Immediately after his death, Steven discovered he'd become a ghost- a wandering spirit with some reason to linger- and Wallace is just content to discover he can see him, at least.
ᕗ31 Book- Wallace leans over and gently teases the book from Steven's grasp and Steven relents- Wallace is more interesting, anyway.
ᕗ32 Eye- It was Steven who noticed it first, how their eyes were almost exactly the same blue.
ᕗ33 Never- He wonders sometimes what his life would be like without Wallace, if they'd never met, then he decides it is a thought he would rather not have.
ᕗ34 Sing- Steven isn't too surprised to learn that Wallace can sing- he's a flautist, after all- but he is amazed to find out how good he is.
ᕗ35 Sudden- They fell for each other suddenly- it was as if they had decided, quite out of the blue, that just friendship wasn't enough.
ᕗ36 Stop- Steven cups Wallace's face gently with weathered hands and kisses him intensely and Wallace kisses him back, stroking his hair, neither of them wanting this moment to end.
ᕗ37 Time- Celebi himself had come and fixed everything in Hoenn- healing the wounded, raising the dead and repairing the damage- but Wallace just wishes that he could make it so Steven never died in the first place.
ᕗ38 Wash- They ran a hot bubble bath together and they stay there until the water is almost cold.
ᕗ39 Torn- He smiles a thin, watery smile and hugs Steven tightly, vowing never to let fate tear them apart again.
ᕗ40 History- "I can't believe it," Steven says incredulously, as the Hoenn Titans battle, "that history could repeat itself like this..."
ᕗ41 Power- Steven is a formidable battler and a charismatic businessman, but Wallace has an effortless power over him that is almost bewitching.
ᕗ42 Bother- It bothered him at first, how deeply in love he was with Wallace, but soon it seemed as natural as breathing.
ᕗ43 God- They could do little but stare as Rayquaza descended from the heavens; Wallace clung to Steven's arm and whispered- "it's here... Rayquaza, the Emerald Sky titan..."
ᕗ44 Wall- They sat on the wall, side by side, watching how the sunset turned the sea and the mountains shades of red and gold.
ᕗ45 Naked- Steven curled up beside Wallace to sleep, their hands linked together, both of them naked and happy in post-coital bliss.
ᕗ46 Drive- He wonders sometimes if he'd be half as good a trainer if he didn't have Wallace to support him.
ᕗ47 Harm- Holding Steven's body close to him, Wallace flees the battlefield- his love might be dead, but he can't let him come to any further harm.
ᕗ48 Precious- "You're the most important person to me, Wallace," Steven says and Wallace nods, agreeing wholeheartedly.
ᕗ49 Hunger- He kisses Steven almost hungrily and is met with an intense kiss back, neither of them holding back on passion.
