Dearest Joanna,

On a lovely winter morning I awoke to find you gone again. I missed your laughter and the way you looked in your mother's too-large jacket.

We used to play games, you and I. We used to have adventures.

I didn't grow any mountains because I wanted you to know that nothing I offered you was insurmountable. Nor did I make myself the world to you because that is what I can never be. I wanted you to want to know the greater world. I needed to make you seek out those challenges.

It is winter now and I am cold. My earth is hard but my people are hearty. Now you are gone and they miss you. I miss you too.

But you will return, and the path you cut through hills and heat will change you. It will make you the strongest of them all. And I need you to be strong if you're going to carry all of my love.

All My Love At Christmas,
Minnesota

Thank you so much. It´s beautiful. Perfect words.

So...um, I was going to write you a nice little letter signed from Minnesota, full of little compliments and nicities. However, anonymous up there totally showed up anything funny I would have written...so I'm left at a stand still. All I got is that I think you're hillarious and I always have a good time when your around. I miss those long phonecalls. Come back soon.

Julie.
