all of my classes have gone well so far, and even though this is going to be a semester very heavy on reading and writing, it looks like it's going to be a good one. and, for a nice change, my books were relatively inexpensive (compared, at least, to the infamous Intro to Lit I book of last fall which must have been made of gold, i swear ( Read more... )

Books were a fortune when I was in school, and so I can only imagine how much they cost now. And art supplies were always ridiculously high.

And so apparently college likes to show you the real world, in the sense that they show you how much you're bound get screwed. Heh. $120 bucks for a book? Sure, why not.

and there is the eternal truth of textbooks: the more expensive the book, the better the odds are that it will contain misprints and/or be so poorly bound that chapter 16 will fall out before the midterm.
