A LOT. two packages that each look as though they could easily be several family packs. i figured she had some purpose for it, and so i didn't use it in anything. but then it stayed there, in the fridge, ( Read more... )

I think celery is best when it's at its crunchiest, and you introduce a bit of peanut butter to the equation. Yus!

That said, my cousin who knows more random facts than anyone I know, has informed me that if you should like to keep celery from going bad, you need only keep it submerged in water. When I heard such a thing, I thought "oh". And then "Oh!" Because it seems to be one of those obvious things, really.

yes! yes! that's exactly the kind of thing that makes you say "aha, of course!". yes, i agree celery and peanut butter makes a wonderfully crunchy snack. i made much of it into soup too, because i possessed it in quantities usually only enjoyed by celery farmers, i think. the fact that my mom shops solely based on what looks good to her at the moment in the store is kind of sweet and darling, but sometimes makes for difficult culinary planning. but perhaps i should see it as planning for my future cookbook :) heee heee, the very thought of me cooking on tv makes me giggle because if i drop a lot of things when i'm in the kitchen now, i can only imagine the kind of mess i could make if i was nervous and thought people were watching. the title of my show would have to be The Extraordinarily Uncoordinated Chef.
