The recent events have made me feel really uncomfortable. That sort of fighting... it sort of made me think of the war that my teachers described. Of course, it wasn't really at all similar, other than violent. A lot of people got hurt too, I really hate it when that happens

This was a battle. And intense one by some people's standards, but nothing like a war.

Be glad you don't know war. Many of us who did fight have that experience because we fought in wars in our own worlds. That battle was at least for a far better cause than the one I fought for originally.
And even so, I wonder if we did the right thing? Everyone who has to take a life to ensure they live to see another day because of a battle wonders that. Afterwards we can reflect upon what we did, and maybe even condemn our own actions. But you can't change the past, you can only move forward and learn from it.

What sort of war did you fight for originally? The only kind I'm familiar with is the Alchemist's War in my own world. Alchemists grew very strong and arrogant, they started to fight with each other over power greed. They almost destroyed the world.

The war I was a part of was being referred to as a "second War of the Magi" by those involved in it. That would be rather true considering the results of it. Basically there was an Empire that was trying to gain power by making use of magical creatures called espers. Since they gained power through this, they also became greedy and wanted to have control of the whole world.
I unfortunately started off on the side of the Empire. I was raised by them and had little choice. When the methods being used became such that I could not agree, I was finally able to escape thanks to someone who was working against them.
My friend tells me in the end we did win, I came here in the middle of it, after the world was nearly destroyed by one of the Empire trying to gain power for himself.
