I’m pretty much talking out my ass here. I’m not watching the new Muppet series, I have no intention of watching the new Muppet series, and I am probably missing out on a lot of context, but - dammit, I’m glad Kermit and Piggy broke up and I’m totally waving a TeamDenise banner here.

Partially I’m guilty of taking the Muppets way too seriously, ( Read more... )

I was fond of hilarious slapstick muppets (Beaker ftw! I watch the Muppet Christmas Carol every year :D), but this whole 'real world' muppet thing really doesn't appeal to me whatsoever, and I am not a fan of relationship drama at all. Still, if we are going 'real world,' then definitely Miss Piggy's behavior is problematic, but don't think I'll be tuning in.

ABC: "Hey, do you like reality TV? Here's the Muppets doing reality TV! Or a scripted show made to look like reality TV, which, let's face it, is not all that different."
Me: "......I hate reality TV. ._." *goes and watches old-school Muppets on YouTube*

Maybe once faced with competition, Piggy will realize she needs to clean up her act and will experience character growth.

This is "reality TV" with legacy characters. Character growth is probably prohibited in big red letters in the writers' room.

I always let the puppet violence slide (they ALL knock each other around), but I think it's a good change for both of them. Why not have a storyline that you can move on after a major breakup? I really hope Denise is actually given a fair shake because it would be a very ballsy and interesting move on the writers' part.

That's exactly why I hold no hope it's going to happen. 'Ballsy' is not something that's terribly valued in syndicated TV.
