They don't know how to carry it.
I've seen people who buy nice suits and other clothing made out of the same fabrics by the hands of some of the same tailors, only without the label who get it and carry themselves better than those just seeking out labels.
There's a lot to be said about confidence and research when dressing. I lot little traditions, and I've seen people in affordable clothing who pay attention to those traditions who look so much better than the label fiends.
I work with a guy who wears a fair amount of Louis Vuitton stuff, but he does a double Windsor knot and leaves out the dimple in the fabric, instead of a four in hand knot with a proper little dimple in the fabric.
I may need help because I notice little things like that, but wearing even cheap things right versus just wearing a label for the sake of the label says a lot about a person if fashion is such an important thing to them.

The girl who said that spent $1,200 on the bag and buys a new one each month. I think she wanted validation on her purchase that failed to fill her with the sense of purpose as she expected it to do.

Anyway, paying for a label always struck me as silly.
I also have developed an involuntary response when people validate their purchase because of it's label to roll my eyes.
