A Sad Tale

Quite often I hear good parents express fear that someone will call Child Protective Services on them for administering corporal punishment to their children. I would like to assure every parent out there that clothed, open-handed spankings are not considered child abuse by the state. In fact, in order for a child to be removed from the home, the ( Read more... )

Many people are ignorant douchebags.

That said, I have immense respect for CPS. I grew up in hospital pediatrics playrooms, where my peers were children with broken limbs, burned faces, and all-over bruising from abuse. I figured out early that being a child was no defense from some assholes.

I hope your friends get their kid. I think that someone who would deny a child a loving home based on the sexual orientation of the parents -- when there are so many forgotten children desperate for love out there -- should be deeply ashamed of themselves. It's certainly not the kind of behavior their savior suggested.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I have worked with loads of CPS caseworkers and have immense respect for them. It takes a really strong person to do that work day after day. I just wish that the laws made it easier for them to do their jobs.

The guys will get the kids, I just feel that if you want to prevent someone else from fostering kids, you had better be willing to take them yourselves.

it is a sahame that the church group is fighting the appointment of the foster parents. they forget the parents will be monitored. they forget that caring foster parents dont have an agenda to "convert" the life choices of their wards, other than to ashow them what a house based on love and respect can be, and something tells me the church groupo has not stepped up to say they will take the place of every potential placement with this caring and loving couple.... and, as a Christian, i am dismayed this church has missed what Jesus would have done... i think would have celebrated that a couple was willing to give of themselves and told the church to celebrate the love the children would know.

Wait, you mean a gay couple has been together longer than Cynthia and me?!

Like, they should be allowed to legally be married, or something... ;)

That is truly sickening, and I hope they are allowed to be foster parents.

Imagine this: a caring, loving couple caring for kids few other people want.

Why imagine how horrible it would be if these kids moved on in life, looked back, and said, "Were it not for a gay couple, I'd have been ignored and worse off..."

Can't be having that!

Oy...
