The Prestige

David Bowie is going to be in a new movie called The Prestige. It stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale (where the hell has he been, btw?). It's about a rivalry between two magicians. Bowie plays Nikola Tesla! Cool! Yay for Tesla coils!

That trailer looked pretty cool and Nikola Tesla was so smart that some crazy people claim he came back in time to act as a second Prometheus for mankind!

Tesla Coils are FUCKING BAD ASS. I saw something once where one experimenter got really bad joint damage from touching the electricity too much. Apparently the voltage or something is such that your nervous system doesn't sense it but it can still leave really bad lingering effects. I think they said it didn't trip the nerves or make your muscles flex like when you touch a broken wire in the kitchen but it damaged your tissues nonetheless.

My favorite however was some doofus that got burned through his arm to the bone. Apparently he didn't realize that an arc of electrictiy would do that. Maybe he had never seen people weld before.
