Summary: Alaska musing on being a state of America. And his girlfriend New York.
Sometimes he hated being Alaska.
Yeah he loved being part of America now. When he first joined he hated it. Hated America. Hated his old father for selling him for so little. Hated his father for selling him in the first place.
The other states tried at first to see him but they couldn't. Alex would never be one to deny the resemblance he had to his old father. They were practically twins. And that's all the other states were able to see. Russia. Not Alaska. Russia.
Except one.
New York.
He had been sulking one day on the rooftop of Americas house. She had appeared with two cups of coffee in each of her hands. She had sat next to him and offered him one.
They didn't say anything that time. They just sat there in silence watching nothing and sipping their coffees just enjoying the others company.
He never would admit but he had been lonely during those times.
They met there once more a few times during the week. Sometimes he brought the drinks and sometimes she did. He liked to bring hot chocolate while she liked to bring coffee.
They started to talk some time after that. About nothing in particular. Random and unimportant things.
It wasn't clear who made the first move but the next thing Alaska knew was that their lips were locked.
Neither one tried to pull away.
Those kisses led to touches which led to more intimate caresses and touches.
It led to love.
He asked her one day what made her decide to sit with him on the roof. She had smiled at him and said "I know what its like to be judged on the way you look. I look like dad so most of the time other nations assumed I'm just like him. We're alike in many ways but we aren't exactly alike. So I kinda understood what you were going through."
Slowly the others realized the differences between him and Russia. In an effort to help that he grew his hair long to New Yorks delight. She said long hair suited him and she loved to pull it at different times.
He and New York remained together. Some of the states thought it was weird since they were legally siblings while other didn't care. America had smiled and said "Whatever makes you guys happy." and gave his blessing.
He loved now to wake up in the morning and walk to down to the living room or the kitchen and see New York there ready and waiting for him. He loved making love to her and then falling asleep with her right beside him, even if it made him feel guilty since she couldn't sleep she always reassured him that she didn't mind.
And sometimes he loved being Alaska.
