I just finished episode 1x13 of The OC, "The Best Chrismukkah Ever," which means my rewatch of the first season is about halfway done. As I mentioned earlier, I originally intended to watch only my OTP, Sandy/Kirsten, and FF everything else. Strangely enough, though, I found myself getting sucked into all of the plotlines... and loving it. Sure, the Chino subplot in "The Homecoming" kind of dragged, but it introduced Theresa, so it wasn't all bad, right?
Seriously, I have to say I've been impressed by the show. The first half of the first season really was pretty awesome. Squeezed in somewhere between all the fancy parties and ridiculous fights? A lot of humor and a lot of heart.
Also -- and this pains me a bit to admit, but -- I get Ryan/Marissa a little more now. I never liked Mischa Barton's portrayal of Marissa, but this time around? It's not as bad as I remembered. I actually like the character, and I find myself really feeling for her... and rooting for the Ryan/Marissa pairing. WTF? I didn't see that coming. (I still think Ryan/Anna would have been cool, though.)
Sadly, though, all good things must come to an end. Marissa has just started therapy, so we all know what that means. Shark jumpage, thy name is Oliver. Still, I'm hoping there will be enough good moments to keep me watching through the end of the season. I think there (mostly) were the first time around, right?
