How's your 2009 going?
Mine seems to be having its ups and downs.
For downs -
- Found out today that my brother is getting a divorce from his wife of about 13 or 14 years. They have 5 kids together. Suckage.
- Father-in-law had to have surgery today due to his spinal cord being pinched, causing problems. He seems to have done well. We just hope it doesn't have any lasting side-effects.
- I fell on my arse the other day pretty badly. Was my own fault. I placed the liquid detergent bottle near the edge of the dryer and it fell off. I then brilliantly walked quickly into the garage through the resulting slimy mess, and proceeded to beat the crap out of myself by falling down on my arse a few times in a row. I'm still a bit sore, but no real damage.
- Frustrated with work a little, but not too bad. I think it's just a need to establish better communications between me and my new boss.
- Been a bit depressed off and on and not sure exactly why. I think a part of it is that I'm missing my dad a lot. This is my first year of life without him in it at all, except in those ways those who have passed always remain in our lives. Also a bit frustrated with not making some life goals and the holidays not going as well as I would have liked.
For ups -
- Had my kiddo down for a few days. Was so awesome to have him over. I don't really get that many opportunities to do so, so I appreciate it whenever I can.
- Went to the Schlitterbahn winter festival thing. Basically a trail of lights, couple of vendor stalls, and a huge HOT TUB. The HOT TUB was AWESOME with a capital SCHWEET.
- Played in an amazing game of Heroes Unlimited the other day. Even if you're not quite a mega-hero, fighting mega-villains is frickin' awesome.
- Have a job interview coming up on Tuesday (20th). REALLY excited. Hoping it works out well, but it's one of those that I wouldn't be too upset if it didn't pan out. I mostly like my job here, even with its drama and occasional silliness.
- I'm writing again. Slowly. But I think the quality of some of what I'm doing is MUCH better than it used to be. For a few reasons I think. First, because my "muse" as it were, is good. Being a combination of sources, things just seem to be in good alignment to inspire my imagination. IE: Coleen, Will, and Jacob - Awesome gaming group who are like a second family to me. - My father's memory. - A more grounded mind with more experience to draw upon. .... now I just need to bump up on my grammar a bit more, but I'm taking it one step at a time.
So, how are things going for ye?
