So far I have only caught one of those damn things, which I promptly donated to the museum. Haven't been able to hook one since.
I've heard that if it is raining, the chances of catching one (and the elusive Coelacanth) increases exponentially. Hasn't rained in my town yet though.
Thanks for the recommendation. You're right that it's very cutesy, but I really dig the sandbox aspect. My only complaint is the freaking store closing at 10PM. Most of my gaming takes place during the wee hours so it kind of screws me.

Yeah, the hours can be irksome, and if you want to keep particular animals happy in your town, sometimes it gets a little high-maintenance. I wish there was more to do after 11 p.m. In the original Cube version there was at least a ghost that you could hunt down late at night. The only thing I would suggest is shifting your clock so that the hours line up better with your schedule. Of course, there are still certain activities and bugs/fish that must be tackled at particular hours of the day, so sometimes you have to adjust your real schedule just for the game. (The checking of turnip prices has been dictating my schedule a little too much lately.)
