Yes, to an extent, but there's also part of me that's going...but I also know an awful lot of people with absurdly low self-esteem. And I'm not sure how students thinking that it's important to be "well off fianancially" is related to narcicism.
I dunno. I don't really think the self-esteem movement is really a bad thing in general, and I think that maybe it needs to not be a false self-esteem movement, and rather than focusing on "everybody's special" focus on specific, concrete reasons why everyone is special and good, and make sure that they aren't possessions, money, or appearance based. If that makes sense.
Technically I think it is still our generation, but it seems like the people born in my brother's year (1985) or later are the ones this article talks about. It's a fine line there
