Um......one of my wishes for this concert TOTALLY CAME TRUE IN A GREATER WAY THAN I COULD HAVE IMAGINED!
(I've cut this so you can skip to whichever part you want to read. The longest will be Miyavi's section.)
I left a little later than I wanted to, and due to traffic on the 55 and 5, it took me about 2 hours to get to the Wiltern. When I arrived, the line to enter was COMPLETELY around the block, almost to the point where the end of the line was back at the entrance, lol. There were also people in a separate line already for TOMORROW NIGHT'S CONCERT! O_o I made friends with the girls around me (Christine, Jennifer, Allegra, and Jonabelle, if you're reading this, YOU ARE ALL AWESOME!) A woman passed by with a microphone and a cameraman, and I shouted "I WANNA BE ON CAMERA!" so they interviewed me about who I was there to see and where I was from. ^^v Eventually they started letting people in, and we made our way around the block. As we waited on the other side of the venue, MIYAVI DROVE BY IN A RED CONVERTIBLE AND WAVED TO EVERYONE! ha ha ha, SO many people chased after his car.
I got to my seat in the mezzanine and immediately my attention was drawn to the giant movie screen on the Wiltern curtains, where they had parts of X Japan's Last Live playing to keep all us crazy fans from starting a riot. (They also played it between each band while they set up the next!) XD
First up after the lights dimmed was Kagrra,. The lead singer was dressed in a kimono and had a fan which he flipped around and made all us impressionable youths mimic. They were a good band to start, for their music is fairly calm. The lead singer nailed EVERY high note he sang. (I must say, the Jrock males know how to use their falsetto WELL.) The lead singer made us be quiet with a gentle "shhh" took out a sheet of paper. Everyone cheered again when we realized he was going to speak to us! He spoke in English, fairly well actually, and thanked all of us for being there and such. As they were about to close, he said, "Sorry this is so short, but don't worry, WE'LL BE BACK!" And they burst into "Urei" (one of the two Kagrra, songs I actually KNOW AND LOVE) and it was good.
Duel Jewel were the next band up, and I know very little about them, but they were SO energetic. The lead singer spoke to us in English, also (and from memory!) He had a cool long black jacket and ruffly sleeved and collared white shirt. I jumped around a lot during their set and did the little dances they did, ha ha ha. Sadly I don't remember much else, probably because I didn't know any of the songs.
Miyavi's set was specially made for the ADD portion of all of us. He entered when a human beat box announced "Miyavi in da houuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse" and this giant cut-out with his kanji on it lifted rose into the curtains to reveal a bassist, drummer, turntable, and guy on a platform. Miyavi strolled out with his guitar on his back while a person holding an umbrella tossed confetti on him. Confetti guy turned out to be a painter, and as Miyavi did his first song, a slow remix of "Selfish Love" the painter painted. Next they did "Rock and Roll is Not Dead" and Miyavi was playing with us as he shouted "What's my name?!" "I can't hear yoooooooooooooooooooooou!!" and other Miyavi-like things. The guy on a platform was a tap dancer, and he was GOOD. Miyavi introduced his companions (though I couldn't really understand him, FAR too many screaming people) then played another song which I recognized but forgot what it was.
THEN THE FUN PART.
Miyavi said, "I have a surprise for you" and the movie screen above the stage which would play all the camera angles for us turned black and a little white pattern played on it. It said:
YOSHIKI
Gackt
SUGIZO
and
Miyavi
(insert kanji I couldn't read)
SUMMER 2007
And there was much rejoicing.
THEN Miyavi gave us an even BETTER surprise, something I'd hoped for but not in this capacity and didn't actually think would happen.
Miyavi pointed offstage and said, "Please welcome SUGIZO!!!!!!!!"
I proceeded to SCREAM LIKE A BANSHEE AS SUGIZO CAME ON STAGE WITH A GUITAR!!!!!!!! Sugizo played the rest of Miyavi's set with him, even at the end when they did "Are You Ready to Rock?" with TAIKO DRUMS! Miyavi's companions cleared the stage, and Miyavi and Sugizo stayed. Miyavi said, "Please welcome YOSHIKI!!!!!!!" and a disco ball dropped from the ceiling and "Forever Love" played as Yoshiki walked on stage. It took a while for him to speak because everyone kept screaming. Miyavi went "SHHHHHH" and someone in the crowd shouted "QUIET!!!! YOSHIKI IS SPEAKING!!!!" It amused me. Yoshiki formally announced that Miyavi was indeed the fourth member of the band, and he apologized that Gackt could not make it to Jrock Revolution (which is okay, for I think I would've needed serious medical attention if I saw all four of them together!). He announced the band's first performance is at Anime Expo on June 29, 2007. O_O Then they hugged and Yoshiki said goodbye, Miyavi said goodbye, and Sugizo finally grabbed a microphone and said goodbye. DAMN SUGIZO IS HOT AND SEXY!
I was shaking uncontrollably at this point, so I went to get some water and air and let what I'd just seen sink in. I had known Yoshiki would be there, so I was prepared for that, plus I've stood in front of the man and talked with him before, so there was no shock in that. But I had only had fangirly hopes that Sugizo would be on stage for the announcement (Gackt too, but well, can't win them all!) and didn't even THINK he'd play guitar there! That was my FAVORITE part of the evening.
I was sad Vidoll followed Miyavi because I really enjoy Vidoll but I was still in a fangirl haze and reaching the point of exhaustion. They played the first song off their album, then did the song "...San ga koronda!" which was awesome because Jui (the vocalist) sings in three or four different vocal styles in that one song. The rest of the set I didn't recognize, but as I said I was still in a fangirl haze. They were not vis-kei tonight, though....they dressed in all white suits, except for Ramue, the bassist, he was in a white dress. XD Vidoll were good live, I was just tired by this point. Oh yeah, Jui spoke to us in Japanese. He was the only one to do that. ^^v
I knew nothing of alice nine. before this evening. They were energetic, and since I'd had time to calm down I was a bit more lively for their performance than for Vidoll's. All of alice nine. were dressed in red, which looked really cool on stage, and they rocked pretty hard. The vocalist spoke to us in English. They were fun, I'll have to check them out a bit more (just like Duel Jewel) and I was jumping around despite my sore legs. (Side note: I started working at a workout place this week and spent 4 hours of this morning standing helping people work out, then stood in line, then stood for most of the concert...I'm allowed to have sore legs! ^_-)
The concert finished around 11:30pm I think, and I walked back to my car, got in, and screamed "SUGIZO!!!!!!!!!!" at the top of my lungs. XD Then I navigated my way home where I fangirled over Sugizo to my roommate, made some dinner, and posted the news to Screaming Kiai.
And now you're up to date.
Sooooooo tomorrow is Merry, MUCC, girugamesh, and D'espairs Ray. I cannot WAIT for girugamesh and D'espairs Ray!!!! And hopefully Yoshiki will make a few more appearances tomorrow night.
EDIT: I ALMOST forgot...all the Jrock Revolution t-shirts I've seen say "Jrock Revolution 1" which in my book means there will be MORE Jrock Revolution Festivals in coming years. So...start saving! ^_-
