Hi Rin!
I´ve got a similiar topic for my final exam in arts.
I have to write a science-repot about Cosplay and make photos and so on.
Anyway, the report has the headline "Copying-Art in the 21st century" (or something like that, I can´t translate that directly...).
Anyway, you could mention that those influences sometimes go like a circle.
You know Kiss copied japanese Kabuki first, then X copied Kiss as a western band,who actually copied japanese style.
Or another example is the whole Visual Kei thing itself.
The (western) fans,mostly girls, copy asian boys who look like western girls.
Furthermore in the 19th century it was "in" for western people to wear japanese clothes, artists copied japanese woodcarving, even the "youth style" (or modern art) was inspired by those woodcarvings.I guess during this time traditional japanese music must have become quite popular too.

Now THAT sounds like a great topic! And it makes me angsty cause I have to find a topic for my thesis as well... but okay, I still have 1 1/2 year time for that! ^^
