Taken from fried-squirrel, who I do not know. She left a comment in ljsecret pointing to a post of hers and I felt it was something that should be shared.
That's an Australian band and filmed in Sydney - there was a big thing on AUstralian 60 minutes about it. The singer had seen that bloke standing around with his sign and struck up conversation with him, they became mates ... then when the singer wanted to try and launch his band online (they weren'thaving much success offline) he thought that'd make an awesome clip. And apparently they're one of the most hit clips on youtube now!
It also started a wave of copycat huggers around Australia. The other day I was in the city and saw this grotty-as guy with a dodgy 'free hugs' sign standing around, and I was like, fat chance I'm hugging that *shudder*.
Yeah I was going to post that clip a while ago but I didn't for some reason... probably cuz I ended up working. :)
Gotta love the Internet. That song is pretty good, but it would never have got noticed amidst the flood of other music out there. Then this clip comes along and the band apparently has a bunch of big labels chasing them now.
Leave it to the Australians to do something this nice. I somehow figured it wasn't from the US. That may sound mean or whatever but truthfully, I think people are too afraid to do that here. Never know what crazy will come at you if you attempt to hug them or some such. Hopefully people will start though! Never can have too many hugs :)
