I just took the political compass test and it seems my beliefs are closest to that of The Dalai Lama.  Also close to my beliefs is Ralph Nader.  Now, both Obama and McCain are way opposite of me (Sarah Palin, as I've said before is a Nazi...she is closest to Hitler than anyone else).  So the question is, do I vote with my conscious, for the person ( Read more... )

No. I'm not going to rip into her--she asked a question--you declared clearly that you diskliked both candidates and weren't going to vote for them.

Very different situation.

And if I don't know WHY you are voting none of the above, it is not from a lack of asking the question--which I've done numerous times, and you always say "Oh, we'll talk about it some other time." and then you have never given me any answer--even when we've met in person other than "I don't like his 2004 speech and i think he acts like the Messiah." and that's it.

So.. don't accuse me of not trying to engage you in conversation about your beliefs--I've done that numerous times and you always deferred. I've just assumed that you don't like Obama and that's that. You haven't ever tried to explain to me any other notion .. so why should I assume otherwise?

Don't trust the political compass test to tell you what the candidates are like.. If you want to know who you should vote for--go to the candidates websites and check out their positions. Then, you can have a better idea whether YOU agree with the candidate--or whether you are agreeing with what someone else thinks the candidate is like ( ... )

Well, I have been following each candidate. I suppose I could read more...not sure where it will get me. Indeed, Obama is the more favorable of the two but there are things that make me worry, like HOW is he going to back up all the promises he is making? Can't steal it all from the rich to feed the poor.
Most likely I will vote for Obama in the end but quite honestly, I hate politics and I don't think anyone could match my ideals so it doesn't much matter. It will be the lesser of two evils because there is never going to be anyone in politics who thinks like I do....that's why I'm in the medical field. You have to care about people to work in the medical field, you have to care about yourself to be a politician.

Obviously, you vote for who you think is the best person for the job.

That being said, I did a lot of research on Ralph Nader AFTER I voted for him in 2000 and discovered that he's a fucking douchebag! Never again!

I voted absentee last Tuesday and after giving it much thought, I voted for Obama.

I will likely vote for Obama as well but I can't say I will ever LIKE anyone who is voted in to office. I don't even like politics to begin with.
