i'm going to japan. help!

ok. so I am going to be in Japan for the first week of september - about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from tokyo. I think a lot of you have been to Japan - can you offer me advice and opinions on what I should do, where I should go, and any Americanism things I should be wary of? thank you!!

so much good advice!! yay! and actually, the friend I'm staying with lives somewhere near narita, so I will defintely stop over and see the temple. thank you for your help, and i will totally bother you if i come up with other stuff. *grin*

Yes, while wandering downtown minneapolis. Passed by too quickly to verify however. :p

Also, be sure to visit a major ward of Tokyo at least once. Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, etc. (though only during the day unless you're with someone O.o) It's quite the experience. :D

Also, Meiji Shrine. There's that one bridge jsut outside it that's famous for having people in EGL and other such outfits gather up around an on it for no good reason. :X

Oh, sorry. Forgot Ikebukuro is a district/rail station. If you ever ride the train, you'll know where it is. XD
