Potential ways to make you feel (and probably be) a bit safer: - Plan TWO escape routes and keep a backpack of stuff (and some money) ready to go should you have to leave in a hurry. I'm a bit "paranoid" so mine has a blanket, flashlight, knife etc.
- Alarm system(s), or just pretend you have one. Burglars won't go anywhere near a house with an alarm system. Some think that means there's more valuable stuff inside, but only professional burglar gangs would think about risking that. One guy won't. (talked to a former burglar about this and sounds pretty right.)
- Don't put your phone down anywhere unless it's charging.
