The Freedom of Information act, despite its flaws *shakes fist and grrrs in the general direction of those exempted from it, the wimps* is really rather good.

I was reading this during my lunch hour and it attracted my attention.  It raises the question of what exactly you need to have wrong with you to claim incapacity benefits.  According to the ( Read more... )

It was a neat statistical feat of the Thatcher government to cut unemployment figures by hundreds of thousands by shifting people onto incapacity benefits. Since then, governments have found that it's quite hard to get people off them.
