Transitioning from one home to another: Part Cinq/Fin

My old apartment is sold; and I am adjusting to life in a smaller apartment in better condition. The last few weeks were odd, saying goodbye to the old place was less about the four walls and empty rooms than recalling the memories I had of them ( Read more... )

Moving is always a bittersweet experience, at least for me, as I have to leave behind the old place and all its memories. But making a new place into a home has joys all its own. Hopefully your joys in the new place far outweigh any sorrows as you settle in.

I never could get the hype over Twilight, nor do I think it's solely my age, as my daughter thought they were all ridiculous (she read the books and never say the movies, but now and then she'll tune into a movie if she surfs across it just to do a bit of MST mocking). I'm mystified when it comes to what sometimes becomes the next big thing. Not always, but sometimes. Right now I'm pretty doggone pleased that The Martian and NASA and space exploration have become a big thing. Sparkly rockets and stars are, for me, far better than sparkly vampires.

I'm very much enjoying the new home; it's much more fresh and easier to clean; even though I have a lot of organizing and redecorating to do.

I don't mind the concept of sparkly vampires, as long as they're interesting, which movie-Edward was not in Twilight. Bella was an even less interesting heroine, at least until she became a vampire. I've always enjoyed a good vampire story/series. But sparkly rockets and stars can't be beat!

Glad to hear that the move is behind you, and you can take your time to sort and organize now. I know how stressful moving can be.

I've watched every season of Pitbulls and Parolees except for this one so far. I'll try to catch up in reruns.

Pit Bulls and Parolees is one of the reasons I keep my outrageously expensive cable TV service. The show is seriously addictive; although I've never owned a Pit Bull.

And I hope I never have to move again; or at least not for a long time.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer would have mopped up the Volturi in about 5 minutes; and I would have loved to see Spike meet Edward

OK, this just had me totally laughing. So much the mind picture...

Spike could have killed Edward pretty easily; but he'd probably waste a lot of time laughing at him and making jokes about his resemblance to a certain brooding vampire. On the other hand, they might bond over piano-playing and poetry and loving mortal girls, who knows.
