Finally joined the Covid Club

One day after US President Biden announced that the Covid pandemic was over, I self-tested positive for the virus.  It was late at night; the first test of a two-night test; I tested positive the second time too.

So far, I think I have a mild case; possibly due to the vaccination and boosters I've had.  My medical team sent a nice young paramedic ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear that it finally got you - but I am pleased it is not too severe; I agree that the vaccines and the treatments have made it so much less dangerous for those of us with access to them. It is so sad that not everyone has access.

I think I've been lucky to get it at this point rather than when the pandemic began. Part of that was my situation; I'm retired, I don't have to go out into a workplace; I don't have a family to shop for, young kids to take to places. And my medical team quickly went to virtual as much as possible. I had the option of frequent grocery delivery (I still use it once a month and it's certainly helpful right now). Though I live in a large apartment complex, the management instituted rules immediately prohibiting elevator sharing (they still do) and insisting on masks in the public areas and discouraged people from hanging out too long in the laundry rooms.

It is a shame that people all over the world do not have cheap/no-cost access to COVID vaccines and boosters and other treatments. It's also a shame that the many people who do have access to them don't use them - if these two worldwide deficits were rectified, COVID incidence might be way down and I might never have contracted it at all.
