OK. Yeah. I'm annoyed.

Thinking about Sean's panel at ECCC and truth to tell I found some of what he said to be rather annoying. He seems to deliberately denigrate his friendship with... not just Elijah... but any of the his LOTR cast members. When asked who his best friend on the set was he said, in a very abrupt tone "Christopher Lee!" then instantly turned to the next ( Read more... )

And on a personal note, if he didn't want 'erotic fan fiction' written about either the characters OR he and Elijah... he might have been wise not to provide such rich fodder for those of us who write it. Any ONE of the seven million adoring looks Sam gave to Frodo in those movies - see my icon - (or that Sean gave to Elijah while they were promoting those movies for that matter) was enough to hand plot-bunnies to every LOTR writer who ever lived.
I don't know that the behaviour of Sean and Elijah is solely responsible for the fic. Certainly his Sam to Frodo were probably orchestrated by Peter Jackson ( ... )

Could be he IS riding that wave... but if that's so then why bring it up at all? The folks at that con were very respectful and never once mentioned fan fic. If he hates it, it seems a bit counter productive for HIM to bring it up not once but twice.

Hell, LOTR fan fic has mostly gone the way of the dinosaur anyway. No one's pairing Sean up with anybody anymore... not even me! LOL!

In that context, it's especially odd. However, if this just happened at a very recent event, it could be grief.

That caused him to bring up erotic fan fiction? Well... I guess anything's possible. Everyone grieves in different ways.

And Sean can be different. LOL!

I'm so sad to hear this all... it is very strange and annoying...
but that's life - people change ... some for the better, some for the ... let's say... not so good.
We will never know what's going on in his head but what you can't change you have to accept - as hard as it is.
*hugs you very very close*

Sean has always made it plain that he is different from the others, especially in his book. I don't think he has much in common with them, I also agree that his career isn't doing as well as he expected. I think he is somewhat disappointed in himself (such as his weight) and not very happy at present. Losing your Mom is a big life event as well as going through middle age. Of course this is all just speculation on my part. The comment about Christopher Lee is so out there that it is laughable. It hurts me to hear him say things like that but we have to remember they are all actors and sometimes choose to play their parts and sometimes not. I think the others have a true friendship but maybe it's not possible to have one with him. But I still love his Sam.

He did fine with Sam, given the crap material that he had to work with. And I'm sure he's grief stricken about his mom... who wouldn't be? But he was talking like that long before now. It's a sad thing to hear.

But... that's life.
