Life has gone back to being strange and unusual. Things keep happening! WTF!
So, thanks to
silvi, I can now beat-match and mix tracks using real decks :D it's a hell of a lot harder than just pressing the "sync" button in Traktor, but I'm now well on my way to DJing at raves and Organix. I still have a ways to go though.. I have a pretty wicked set

First, practice your face off. Figure out what it is you need to do to sound awesome. Beat matching is great, but knowing when to start the next track can be tricky; I don't know when to do that always!
Second, record a one-hour demo CD and hand it off to Chris. If he doesn't like it, he'll tell you why. Then make another one and give it to him again. If he likes it, he'll schedule you to open. The opening set is usually 10-midnight (I wasn't aware of this at the time and only planned to play 1.5 hours).
Angel will be there chilling out in case you fuck up or get freaked out or water mains burst on you! :P Otherwise just keep on rocking!
If there's a crowd or you are well received then he'll ask you to come back and play more. And then you get your choice of when to play.
I still get freaked out before all my sets, but once you get up there, it's such a rush!

i still record all the time and well, its awesome because i love listening to my own music, haha, but also i find listening to it afterwards helps me figure out what actually sounds good vs. what i think might've sounded good but actually sounds like crap.
but yeah practice practice.... i always tell people there's like 100 hours where you are going to be total crap... so the more you practice the faster you get threw your hundred hours...
oh and don't post crappy demo tapes on the internets! i'd say on here would be okay but not onto like public forums where people might download them who don't know you! hahah because then people will think you suck forever! :P
good luck!
