I just watched an umpire make THE WORST CALL I have ever seen in my life. Armando Galarraga had a perfect game. A PERFECT GAME. He hit the bag for the last out three feet ahead of the runner, and the umpire called it safe ( Read more... )

Something like this actually happened before... In 1972, Milt Pappas of the Cubs went to 2-2 on the 27th batter of a pending perfect game, only to have the next two pitches called balls. (Which the Cubs thought were strikes)

I still think Don Denkinger's missed call in the 9th inning of Game 6 of the 1985 World Series was worse.

Owch! I know they won't change the result, but won't thdy do something to the ump? Depending on his record, I'd think it'd start at a fine and suspension and go on up to getting canned.
