The first one to make any comment on the situation was, surprisingly, Shikaku who marched up one morning and banged heavily on Chouza’s door. The placid round faced Akimichi opened it and withstood Shikaku’s glare for a full minute before asking, “Is there something wrong, old friend?”
“Do you know what Chouji’s been up to lately?”
“No.” Shikaku opened his mouth in protest, but Chouza held up a large hand and he stopped. “Chouji is an adult now, has been one for almost a year. It’s hardly any of my business what he does in his spare time.”
“He’s been going home with some… some boy, every night, for weeks now Chouza.” The Akimichi shrugged mildly and moved to close the door. Shikaku clenched both hands, angrily. “You’re not concerned at all that your son is getting fucked by a boy you don’t even know!?” His voice, nearly a shriek, broke at the final word.
Chouza paused in the doorway and peered out at him. He arched one eyebrow. “First, Shikaku, no I’m not concerned. As I said before, Chouji is an adult and he can make his own adult decisions. Second, Lee is a year older then Chouji and, third, I have met him before.”
“When?”
“He made dinner for the family last week. It was delicious. Now really, old friend, if you’re just going to stand on my doorstep and gossip like a hen then I have other things that need doing.” The door was closed firmly in the angry red face of one Nara Shikaku.
And, while the gossiping of hens was unruffled by this incident, no one bothered going to Chouza’s house about it ever again.
