Summary: Yuri and Koki - A couple that stayed together for four years, but due to a sudden change in feelings Yuri found herself alone with her still unborn baby. Thankfully she has her best friend Hayato to support her all the way but is she really going to let such a little life slip through her fingers?

A/N: This was actually written during my summer-job, I had about four hours of waiting around before I could start work so I got my act together and wrote this chapter. Hope you like it <3

“I'm sorry...” Yuri mumbled through her tears, still not daring to look at her friend who was sitting next to her in the car. “I'm so sorry.”
Hayato looked at her with kind eyes and a small smile crept onto his lips.
“What are you apologizing to me for? I told you before that this choice was completely yours.” He took one of his hands off the steering-wheel and squeezed her hand in his as he had to let his eyes travel back to the road.
“I know you did... But still, to make you go with me when I...”
“Shh...” Hayato hushed in an attempt to calm her down. What had happened just hours earlier had been her choice and she knew that, but she still didn't seem to be able to let go of the guilt over her decision. “Don't think like that.”
Yuri didn't say anything but nodded slowly with the tears still running down her face to show that she understood what he said.
“It's okay to cry though, you have been through a lot today.” He squeezed her hand a little tighter and was pleased when she squeezed it back even though it was very weak. “So...” He had no idea if he was doing the right thing here but he felt he needed to do something. “I think you should stay with me tonight.”

“What?” Yuri looked up at him with blank eyes and when he saw her reaction he realized what his words could have been interpreted as.
“Oh, I.... I didn't mean it like that!” He corrected hurriedly but kept his eyes on the road. “I just thought that you shouldn't be alone, that's all.” He tried to smooth it over but Yuri could see the blush creeping over his face and it made her smile through her tears.
“I knew that, Hayato. And I appreciate the offer.” She chuckled and then turned to look out the window with the small smile still lingering on her lips and her hand on her belly. “I made the right choice, didn't I?”

“Koki, I seriously can't believe that you broke up with her. She's the best thing that ever happened to you.” Kamenashi scolded where he stood in the doorway, reprimanding eyes staring as his best friend brought the bottle of beer to his lips, the fifth in two hours.
Ueda had finally had enough of Koki trying to “improve” his wardrobe and as a result Koki had found himself in front of the younger's place only hours earlier, his few belongings that he had managed to take with him that night of the fight in the bag next to him.
“I mean, do you have any idea how much you must have hurt her?” Kamenashi continued when Koki only seemed willing to have a conversation with his beer-bottle.
“And you do?” He slurred, the alcohol clearly making him unable to form the words properly.
“Well, clearly more than you! How could you just leave? After four years together you just decided you don't love her anymore?!” The younger was screaming now but Koki paid him no more attention than before.
“Kazuya.” Kamenashi turned his head to him calm boyfriend who had, strangely enough, been comfortably silent during his scolding of Koki but who had obviously decided to butt in now. “It's not really any of our business what goes on between Koki and Yuri, they're both adults and mature enough to sort this out any way they want to.”

In any other situation Kazuya would have loved the way Jin's words seemed so right and so wise but now he just hated it! Sure Koki was his friend but that didn't mean that he didn't love Yuri just as much, he knew how sensitive she was and he could only imagine what she was going through at that moment.

“Jin, don't say anything else or I will knock you out. You know I can do it!” Kamenashi glared at the older man in the armchair across the room but the latter didn't seem to care.
“Kazu, leave it alone.” His voice was hard as he nodded towards a drunken Koki who was now reaching for a sixth bottle only to miss it because of the fact that he was seeing everything in doubles.
The younger looked at his best friend with pity in his eyes, even if Koki would never admit it he was as ruined by his decision as Kame thought Yuri must be. The younger had no idea what had brought on this supposed change in feelings towards the girl and Koki had refused to share.
“I'll change the sheets in the guest-bed.” He simply sighed and left his boyfriend and best friend alone in the livingroom to do so. No matter what had happened Koki was still his friend and he really couldn't deny him a place to spend the night, but that's not to say that he didn't wish for the older one to grow a pair and go home to his own apartment.

The next day

It was with a loudly beating heart that Yuri walked into her new office-building, an old apartment house which had been renovated recently. Yuri had a tingling feeling that Gackt was the one who had had it renovated but she wasn't going to dig into the matter, she just felt so happy when she walked into what was going to be her office. A big creme-white room with big panorama-windows, giving her a view over a big part of Tokyo. The floor was carpeted, in the same color as the walls, making the room seem even bigger than it actually was.

“So I take it you like it then?” Gackt smiled when Yuri floated around the room on pink, little clouds, enjoying the view from the big windows and practically dancing around the room as she imagined how she was going to have it decorated.
“Are you kidding? I absolutely love it!” She threw herself around his neck with a wide smile, very much like a younger sister hugging her older brother and Gackt hugged her back.

“But isn't it a little too big? I mean, so far it's just for me, right?” Gackt put her back down again and looked at her with amused eyes. She had always been a quick thinker this one.
“So far yes. But that'll change soon enough, I have everything planned out.” He sent her one of his mysterious smiles and he could almost see how the thoughts started spinning around in his companion's pretty head.
“Come with me.” He took her hand in his and lead her out of the building. “I have another surprise waiting for you.”
“I'm not sure I can handle another surprise.” Yuri laughed but still followed him into his car.

Only minutes later they stood in front of another apartment building, even more extravagant than the last one and Yuri couldn't even begin to understand what they were doing there. It wasn't like they needed two “headquarters”.

“What are we doing here?” Her voice was careful as if she was expecting him to drop a bomb on her for asking.
“You'll see.” He simply said and walked inside, Yuri following on somewhat uncertain steps.
“Gackt-san! It's a pleasure to see you again.” The younger male receptionist/lobbyist greeted the artist as he stepped through the doors with confident steps with the girl following close behind him.
“The same to you, Nakano-san.” Gackt nodded his head politely in before turning to Yuri. “Yuri, I want you to meet Nakano Sousuke. He's the owner of this building.”
The girl bowed towards the man behind the counter despite the fact that she had no idea what was going on.

“'Yuri'?... Then are you by any chance Takegami Yuri? The girl who...”
“Yes!” Gackt hurriedly interrupted, making the girl if possible even more perplexed. “She is so if you would just give us the keys and we'll be on our way.” The older of the two men reached out his hand expectantly towards the younger who just then seemed to figure out what was going on. Making Yuri feel like the biggest idiot in the world for not being able to comprehend the situation.
“Oh! She doesn't know?” Nakano Sousuke chuckled happily as he passed the keys to Gackt.
“Doesn't know what?” Yuri thought but said nothing, not wanting to make a complete fool of herself.

“It was really nice meeting you, Yuri-chan!” Sousuke smiled at her when the two started making their way towards the elevator but being too confused to form a sentence she just bowed her head in response before the elevator-doors closed and she found herself once again alone with the older man.

“Do you have any idea as to why we are here?” He asked once they had passed a few floors in silence.
“...No.” Yuri mumbled, feeling embarrassed about being so clueless.
“Good.” Gackt chuckled before turning silent again, making Yuri irritated.
“What's so good about that?” She asked, frustration clearly evident in her voice.
“It's good because if you had a clue then it wouldn't be a real surprise, now would it?” He smiled and even if he had a point his answer still didn't make Yuri any less irritated.
She glared under her bangs at the man standing next to her. He was one of the most stubborn people that she knew, herself included and if he wanted to keep, whatever it was, a secret then she wasn't going to know anything until he decided it was time.

They exited the elevator on the top floor. Gackt first, closely followed by Yuri. Very much like a puppy following its master.
The girl followed her companion until he stopped in front of a door, he turned to look at her with an uncharacteristic bright grin that caught her by surprise.
“Here we are!” He exclaimed happily and gave the key in his hand to Yuri, motioning for her to unlock the door in front of her but she wasn't about to move an inch until she got some answers.
“And where exactly is 'here'?”
“...Open it.” He just smiled and after a few seconds of just staring at the older man Yuri actually gave in and did as she was told.

With a simple click the door opened for the two of them and what greeted them was a big, bright hallway. The walls were white and the stone floor looked very similar to black/gray marble which gave the room a very clean and classic feel. Yuri looked around the hallway questioningly before glancing back at Gackt who simply nodded for her to continue inside.
Next they came into the livingroom, completely furnished with black and white furniture. As if it was ready to be shown on the market. A big white couch had been place just beneath the middle of the three windows and facing it on the opposite wall was a big flat-screen TV. In two of the four corners of the room two empty triangular-looking bookcases had been placed and in the third corner a big, green tree-like plant stood, as if supported by the two joining walls behind it.
“Seriously, Gackt...”
Yuri turned to him after scanning the room for her 'surprise' but to no success. “What's going on? Why am I here?”
She really was serious this time and the older man seemed to have noticed the seriousness in her voice because he sighed a defeated sigh and looked at her with an mischievous smile.
“Happy 23rd birthday, Yuri-chan!”

An awkward silence filled the room as Yuri stared at the man as if he had just announced he was marrying his dachshund Belle.
“Gackt-kun. My birthday was two months ago.” She sighed tiredly. “And even if it wasn't, the words 'happy 23rd birthday' doesn't really explain anything.” Yuri stated matter-of-factly.
“Well, then how about this for an explanation? This apartment is a belayed birthday-present from me.”

Yuri stared at him. She was hardly able to breath out of shock and Gackt looked at her with an amused smile as she tried to capture some of the words flying around in her head.
“Excuse me?” She managed to stutter, not believing him at all. But he just looked at her with those all-knowing eyes. “I already have a place to stay.” She lied.
She didn't, not really, but she wasn't about to accept an apartment like that, not even from Gackt.
“No, you don't. You stayed the night at your friend's house so either you're two-timing your boyfriend or the two of you broke up.” His amused grin evaporated and was replaced with a serious half-smile. “And you don't strike me as the cheating type.”

Yuri didn't know what to say. She couldn't lie to him, he would know if she did and yet she didn't want to tell him the truth.
“I have something else to show you.” Gackt sighed and ran a hand through his hair after a few moments of silence. He walked up to one of the livingroom-doors and waited until Yuri was next to him again before he opened it.
“Look, I really can't accept.... this.” The words stuck in Yuri's throat when she saw the room hiding behind the door.

It was a nursery. Three big windows faced the girl as she silently walked into the room, slowly running a shaking hand along the powder-blue walls. On them there were several empty picture-frames and below two of the windows stood a crib, just the mere sight of it was enough to make Yuri tear up.
“Why did you do this?” She asked, her voice shaking from held-back sobs and her cheeks wet with tears.
“Because I know you didn't abort the baby. I also know that your boyfriend left you... But more than anything I know that you will make an awesome mother, and all you need right now is the chance to prove it.” Gackt walked up to the crying girl and placed a gentle hand on her head, stroking her long hair softly. “Let me help you by giving you that chance.”

A few days later

“Are you sure about this, Yuri?” Kamenashi asked as Yuri passed him another box. Said girl who had just gone back to packing the pile of neatly folded clothes on the bed into a bag on the floor, looked up at him with a chuckle.
“Well, I think it's about time I gave Koki back his apartment. Don't you?” She winked at him and then went back to what she was doing, leaving Kamenashi with packing the remaining books from the now almost empty bookcases into the new box in front of him.
“Yeah, but still. Just because you're the one moved in doesn't mean you have to be the one to leave.”
“Maybe not.” Yuri took out the last piece of her clothing from the closet and held it out to see what it was. “But it's the simplest and best way to do this and truthfully I actually think it's the only way to do this.” She smiled at him and although he didn't really agree with her Kamenashi couldn't help but smile back at her.

She had called the young idol the day before, asking him if he might want to help her move from the shared apartment. Amongst the members of KAT-UN, Kame was the one she had become closest to, so even though he was Koki's best friend she had found nothing strange in asking him to help her with the move.
She had thought long and hard about Gackt's offer and had decided to accept the apartment... or condo might be a better way to describe it. So she had started tying up the two major loose ends of her life. First one: Quitting her job. Second: Moving out of Koki's apartment.
The first loose end had already been tied up that very morning and so now she was currently working on the second one.

“Yuri! Where do you want your stuff from the study?” Hayato popped up in the doorway, a big box in his arms. Very similar to the one Kamenashi was currently filling up.
“Oh...” The girl walked out into the hallway and looked around to find a spot that wasn't already occupied by boxes piled on top of each other. “If you feel like being an angel you can run down and put it in the backseat of the car. I kind of need to have access to the sketches.” She smiled apologetically, she was really blessed to have such good friends.
“Well, then you will just have to start calling me 'Angel'.” Hayato chuckled and leaned in to kiss Yuri's forehead before walking out of the apartment with the box still in his arms.
“He really is an odd-boll, isn't he?” Kamenashi laughed and Yuri couldn't agree more. Hayato had always been the odd one out but in the last few years he had really grown up, the same could probably be said about Yuri.
“Yeah, but he's a really good friend.” She said and folded the dress in her hands before placing it in the bag on the floor. She sighed happily as she was finally able to zip the bag up but left it on the floor. Hayato had lectured her about lifting heavy things by herself so early on in the pregnancy so she was more than happy to let him handle the lifting for her.

“So you're really through?”
Yuri looked up from the photo of her and Koki on her side of the nightstand, she must have stared at the picture for too long seeing as Kamenashi had chosen to break the comfortable silence.
“Huh?”
“You and Koki.” He nodded at the picture causing Yuri to flinch unconsciously at the thought.
“... I guess.” Her voice didn't come out as strong as she had hoped and when she tried to smile it felt so fake she had to stop. “It's what he wants.” The somewhat dirty window suddenly seemed very interesting as Yuri turned her back to the idol and shrugged at his question.
Kamenashi looked at her with worried eyes, he had figured that she was hurt after what had happened with Koki but he needed to know for sure.
“And you? What do you want?” He asked but didn't move from where he was sitting on the floor.
Yuri looked out the window and the rain that had just started to fall actually managed to make her depressed.

“... I want to be able to forget him.”
