I've always wanted to punch people that push it after I've already pressed it. ESPECIALLY if they see me push it first. It's always like they think that I am so incapable of pressing a button and that they have the finger that is so gifted, it's likeness is even on the Sistine Chapel pointing right at God's almighty elevator pushing digit.
I asked a guy one time if he thought the elevator wouldn't come unless he pushed in a button that was already well taken care of. He actually told me that he thought the elevator went faster if it was pushed multiple times. It made me want to punch him even more.

We might not trust one another but I don't think the elevator button thing is an indication of distrust. I think it's more force of habit from the many times we are first to get in and find out floor and our muscles just do their thing as if a reflex. It's also a sign that we're all a bit neurotic and ocd.
