Hermit crabs

Feb 03, 2008 20:08

A few days ago, my biggest and smallest crab were both out and about. So I figured a little photo shoot to show the size difference was needed.

Sokka is the big guy, the little one is Momo.

Wow, I didn't know they vocalize! That's very cool. Sounds like Vesper when she's trying to tell Bond "Not tonight, honey, I have a headache..."

LOL! Yeah, if the crabs were in the same room as the geckos, we'd never know who was arguing.

Ohhh I likey! Especially the lil' noises Sokka was making! I had no idea they did that. Wonder if my saltie guys do... hm.

I ordered 5 orange claw hermits and a porcelain crab for my tank. (Only have one scarlet hermit, now.) The procelain is by far my favorite. He's too nifty! You've put me in the mood to post pics - be on the look out. lol

Hey Kimmy, how often do your guys molt?

Well... to be honest, I'm not sure if any of them have ever molted yet for me. They've dug down for awhile at times but when they come up they look the same.

4 of them are in the isolation tank and most will go under for a couple of days, come up, go back down for a few weeks, come up for a night, change places, go back under. They are driving me nuts! I'm keeping the substrate moist, I have heat on them, ect.

I guess that didn't really answer your question. LOL! Sorry.

Aang has been down for a solid 2 months or so I have my fingers crossed that he's having a successful molt and not just toying with my nerves. *laughs*

Here's a great site on the molt times depending on the size:
