My most recent assignment has been to write a romance story for my genre class. First of all, I fail at romance. My original plot was about a boy who died in a car accident. It went up in flames. A lot like his car. I just wasn't in to it.

Seems no one can write about two people bonding with each other sincerely anymore. I mean, of course, at some point everyone has sex in a long relationship with someone they care for but never is the sex the only thing driving a real relationship. At least this isn't true of the couples I know of who have gone steady.
I'd love to read your story when it's finished. It sounds like a great concept. Nice bubble-popping themes and references too hehehe.

It's so true. I mean, I'm in no way a preacher for abstinence, I do believe that sex makes up a very important part of any relationship, but it's not what defines it. Our culture really seems to have lost the ability to differentiate between lust and love.
I hate to say it now, because I flailed about the idea, but I ended up ditching this story (at least for the project). It just didn't want to be told right now. Instead, I opened up a new document and started writing. I now have a story about two young people who run away together and realise that being on your their and in love really isn't what they thought it would be. I'm actually enjoying this story a lot. But I feel like a bit of a tard for making such a big deal about the other idea here and then abandoning it the next day, haha! Oh well!
