I guess this is for emergency broadcast type things? Wouldn't the radio work just as well in those situations? I don't subscribe to cable, but I don't watch broadcast television either and I'm trying to think of a good reason to go ahead and get a converter (beyond "well, it's free").

My wife and I watch CBS Sunday Morning and the rose bowl parade and things like that.

For us rabbit ears are fine and they stop working in 2009 unless we buy this widget and while cable is nifty we really don't want the expense.

This is more of heads up to the people like me who watch occaisional over the air TV
