What. Have. I. Done??

I was never athletic, never involved in sports at school, didn't even have a bicycle. Of course I ran and played with the other kids, but was just as happy (or happier) to be under a tree with a book. (I'm a redhead and there was no sunscreen "back then ( Read more... )

Look at it this way: You have to start somewhere! People I know who have done C25K love it because you do it at your own pace. I never have -- I've never liked running as a sport -- but it works for plenty of people, no matter their fitness level at the outset.

You're sticking with the Y program because subconsciously it's speaking to you :)

I had my evaluation at PT today. First thing they asked was if I had access to a pool. I have the feeling they would have given me more exercises if I did.

Well, I don't like any sport, and I hate exercise. My sister is the same, and once said she would rather be set on fire than exercise, and I completely understand. But my weight loss is at a standstill, and I'm getting older, so I need to shake things up- like my metabolism. This doesn't need rules, a uniform, a track, special equipment, or other people. So, it became "the choice". God help me... I feel like an elephant deciding to become a ballerina!

Sounds like a good plan to me. You don't want to do something that tears your body up and running on pavement was doing that to you. Take the parts you can use and replace the rest with a reasonable equivalent sounds like the way to go. Good on ya!

good for you :) anonymous May 7 2013, 18:39:52 UTC
I am so proud of you!
I am not impressed with the Y however....I cannot believe they would just point and tell people to run!
I have always wanted to be a runner but my legs break down each time and I cannot afford a running coach/biomechanic analysis which is what I think it would take.

I know you don't like exercise, but the more you do, the better you will really feel!

I really was disappointed. I wanted a LEARN to run program, but this program obviously not geared for rank beginners like me. I'll stick with my treadmill and the C25k app, and see what happens. The sports doc who spoke 2 weeks ago said if you have 2 legs, you can run. We will see. LOL!
