Screenings

Bennies,

Next term I was thinking of screening the entirety of Scrapped Princess (which is an amazing anime I highly recommend to anyone, especially Final Fantasy fans-- it's short too, only 24 episodes), but I think I have a better idea ( Read more... )

I'll feel old if you consider Futurama "classic television", just because "classic" suggests "old" to me. Not that Futurama isn't amazing.

Additionally, I would be quite overjoyed if you played any of the following, including Futurama: Animaniacs, Darkwing Duck,
Talespin, Pinky and the Brain, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, and/or Garfield

I WAS A COUCH POTATO WHEN I WAS KID, OKAY???

I don't actually consider Futurama "old" (or any of these, really), but it's something I'd love to air as well. It is such an amazing show... I don't understand why they cancelled it after only 4 seasons-- the reruns are matching Adult Swim buckets of money, apparently.

And I don't know about you, but I severely miss Saturday Morning Cartoons. They barely do them anymore and the ones they do air suck.

In any case, I can supply you with all of Futurama, as well as a couple volumes of Pinky and the Brain and one volume of Darkwing Duck, if you happen to need them.

Let's get dangerous

(is it obvious that I really like this idea?)

Excellent! I think too many people like this idea not to do it.

Note to self: Get some Simpsons/Futurama icons, woman!

I like this plan! And if you do have the entirety of some of these, I would very much like to borrow them at some point - Futurama and Gargoyles, especially.

I just purchased season 1 of Futurama on DVD (I'm actually waiting for it in the mail) and I have season 1 of Gargoyles on DVD. Not all of Gargoyles is released, though. The only other DVD that's released is, get this, part 1 of Season 2. And now they might not reason part 2? WTF? But, I also have the recent Gargoyles comics they started-- it picks up right where the series left off and is being done by the original creator.

Anyhow, as for everything else, while they're on my wishlist to buy, my place is to Netflix them for the time being.

I actually spent the past few days watching intros from 80s and 90s cartoons, so I am very much okay with this~

I think that's an EXCELLENT idea.

I've noticed a tremendous sense of nostalgia for 90's television among everyone in my acquaintance... Especially since the VH1 "I love the ____" clip shows have been airing. There are even petitions online to create a "Classic Nickelodeon" channel! I know that EVERY generation loves to reminisce about their childhood, and likes to think that the things they grew up with are superior to the new generation's.... But I seriously feel bad for the kids who are growing up without Doug and the Animaniacs and all those great shows. Remember when All That actually used to be funny? Oh, man.

Best idea ever, Natalie Rose.

Yes to anything classic Nickelodeon. I may have to make a trip up some weekend and lend my Adventures of Pete and Pete DVDs. I consider that the pinnacle of classic Nickelodeon. Natalie K has 'em too.
