Wow, thank you! :D Most of this just... popped into my head during a class after reading that prompt and wouldn't stop until I got it out, and it didn't care that I was stepping outside a comfort zone. Glad you didn't think it was a total pile of fail. <3
The dream blends with reality so completely that he’ll never again be able to tell the difference.
oh, but he will. one day. one final moment. he will. (okay, I'm listening to Blue and it ain't helping ;) :D )
like them. all of them. but especially the first one.
and also The last vestiges of his shattered heart are washed away by the rain, scattered into oblivion. He never knew it was so fragile. heh. does anyone ever? know?
But is that his final moment? Dun dun duuuun. :P And Spike thinks he knows a lot of things that he doesn't actually know, like the true lunkhead that he is ;) ... But that's why I love him and he refuses to leave my head.
Don't worry about never having written them before: this is lovely. I like the way the first segment captures that kind of heady blush of new love. It brings to mind that look on his face in the flashbacks when he sees her presumably for the first time and looks so smitten.
The dream blends with reality so completely that he’ll never again be able to tell the difference. and He never knew it was so fragile. and and an existence carved out of absence are beautiful and sad but so right. They don't get much more doomed than those two kids, and this story is great. Thank you so much!
Oh, thank you so, so much! I was nervous about this entire thing, so I'm really glad you enjoyed :)
I've always wanted to explore more of this angle, the flashbacks and the Spike/Julia relationship, but I could never really figure out how to start. Your prompt was an awesome push for me to get into that direction.
